Product Testing – Our Favorite of the Year
As part of our magazine, we conduct numerous tests on a wide variety of automotive equipment, parts, and tools related to both on-road and off-road driving. Among all these evaluations, tire tests undoubtedly take center stage, especially through our Pneus Vic column.
This year, one product stood out and truly deserves the title of favorite: a tire that combines ruggedness, off-road performance, and winter safety.

This tire addresses a specific need. Designed for off-road enthusiasts, it targets versatile “do-it-all” vehicles. Its aggressive tread pattern enables exceptional performance on trails, in mud, on forest roads, and in sand. Even more impressive, it features the well-known winter symbol (the three-peak mountain with a snowflake), a key criterion for drivers in Quebec.

However, we must emphasize that the presence of this logo doesn’t automatically guarantee the same level of performance as a tire exclusively designed for harsh winter conditions. While the symbol certifies that the tire is legally approved for winter use, it doesn’t replace the specific engineering of traditional winter tires.
That said, Nokian—renowned for years for its expertise in winter tire technology—clearly demonstrates its know-how with this model. Although not a pure winter tire, this certified model delivered impressive performance in our snow and ice tests.

On the road, comfort is not sacrificed. Despite its aggressive tread design, the tire offers a surprisingly quiet ride. Its road handling is impeccable, even in rainy conditions, thanks to an efficient water evacuation design that ensures excellent control in heavy accumulations.
Key Features:
• Superior traction: Optimized grip on snow, slush, wet roads, and hot surfaces
• Extreme durability: Aramid Tough Shield technology using puncture-resistant fibers (similar to those found in bulletproof vests)
• Robust design: Square tread profile with reinforced blocks for enhanced off-road performance
• Pothole protection: Free replacement guarantee in case of irreparable damage caused by road obstacles
• Winter certified: Marked with the winter symbol, ensuring compliance with seasonal safety standards
• North American manufacturing: Produced at Nokian’s factory in Dayton, Tennessee, for quality tailored to local conditions
Conclusion
This tire represents a rare balance between off-road performance, on-road comfort, and winter safety. Nokian has pulled off an impressive feat by offering a complete, durable product suited to the realities of North American drivers. Whether you’re a weekend adventurer or a demanding daily driver, this tire rightfully earns its place among the best product tests we’ve conducted this year.
